President's Message

Our 30th Season Awaits!

With each season and every performance, the Montgomery County Performing Arts Society strives to provide the highest level of performing arts events.  It’s our desire to create an impact that remains long after each audience member has left the venue. As the house lights dim and the stage lights brighten, it is our goal to create that "wow" moment for you and your family… to "spark something inside."

I’m proud to announce that the 30th Season of Montgomery County Performing Arts Society is filled with wonderful live performances, including the pianist extraordinaire, Rob Landes, along with his base player and drummer; The Missoula Children’s Theatre performance of “Robinson Crusoe”; From Washington, D.C. comes the hilarious show from The Capitol Steps.  Larry King says, “They’re the best. There’s no one like them, no one in their league”.  In November, we are excited to present Marvin Hamlisch, who has won virtually every major award that exists: 3 Oscars, 4 Grammys, 4 Emmys, a Tony, and 3 Golden Globe Awards. In 2009 we will have the Southern Fried Jazz Band for a really fun show; the exciting 25th Annual Young Texas Artists Music Competition that draws on musical talent from around the world; and, closing our season will be a special night for the baby boomers with the enjoyable trip down memory lane with The Shirelles who were a favorite from the 1960’s (Remember, Soldier Boy, Please Mr. Postman, and Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?)  All great shows!

MCPAS continues to strive to develop educational and community outreach programming for Montgomery County residents.  We are proud to announce our “Play It Again, MCPAS!” program.  We are asking for you to search your closets for any musical instruments lying around.  Within our community, there are many students who would love to take band in school, however, cannot afford to rent or buy a musical instrument. Can you help bring the joy of learning and performing to a deserving student by donating a musical instrument?  Contact our office for pick-up or drop off details.

We are also working on developing a “Children’s Series” to add to our performance season.  As a non-profit 501(c) organization, we would welcome any tax-deductible financial support for sponsoring in part or in full this program for students in schools throughout Montgomery County. Central to MCPAS’ mission are education programs that encourage our children to more fully appreciate and participate in the performing arts.  Through the years, studies have discovered that the inclusion of the performing arts in a broad-based curriculum improves the quality of a child's educational experience. The arts teach discipline, improve self-esteem, and inspire creativity.  Knowledge of the arts makes good teachers better and makes participating schools exciting.   Our Executive Director would be happy to discuss our programs with you.

We invite you to join us for another outstanding season.  Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you.

Sincerely,
Claude Cooke, President
Montgomery County Performing Arts Society
